Alex Campea

Class of 2014

Catholic Memorial High School

A faculty member and coach at Catholic Memorial High School for 30 years and Athletic Director since 2001, Alex Campea stepped away from the diamond in 2005 after 19 seasons and more than 200 victories. During his tenure, Coach Campea’s teams qualified for MIAA Tournament play ten times and captured the always competitive Catholic Conference Championship on three occasions. Even more impressive is the fact that Alex’s teams accomplished this without the service of an assistant coach or an on-campus field for many of these seasons. Using various public parks, and often times patches of open turf and parking lots, Coach Campea was not above using trash barrels in the place of L screens during batting practices. Despite the obstacles, rival coach and sponsor Joe Campagna says, “Alex’s teams were talented, well coached and played with a level of class second to none. Win or lose, coach Campea’s teams always acted like true student-athletes when the game was over.” For your coaching accomplishments and for all you have done to foster the advancement of baseball and the growth and development of the young men who have benefitted from your leadership, the MBCA is proud to welcome you into its Hall of Fame.
